SYCF bringing Comic Relief grants to South Yorkshire

Posted by Bianca

South Yorkshire Community Foundation (SYCF) is teaming up with Comic Relief to bring almost £80,000 in grants to local community groups in South Yorkshire. Grants of up to £10,00 will be available over the next two years, until March 2011.

At least 50% of the funding will be delivered to sporting projects in the region, with the remainder distributed amongst other worthwhile non-sporting groups.

Successful applications for sporting projects will show how the group increases access to sport and exercise for people who face social exclusion and isolation, and to help people who are experiencing difficulties in their lives.

Non-sporting projects should increase local services, build skills of local people, increase community cohesion or respond to local economic needs.

Further information, including eligibility criteria and application forms, is due to appear on the SYCF website in the autumn.

For more information contact SYCF, telephone, 0114 242 4294, email or visit the SYCF website.
