EVENT on Thu 30 Jun 2016 : Making the Ask, Making the Move

SYFAB is excited to announce the return of the new and improved Making the Ask, Making the Move - training event.

Feedback from our successful Making the Ask – Approaching businesses and individuals for support beginners training session said you wanted to hear from people who have given or have been successful in making the ask.

In response, we have created an intermediate training session, which is designed for those who are preparing to make the ask, or those who would like to find out more about the planning for, establishment and implementation of a relationship with a potential donor.

This session will help you:

  • Explain the meaning of mutual benefit for groups and potential donors
  • Explain the steps, principles behind and techniques for approaching potential donors
  • Describe two possible benefits of and two disadvantages of company and individual giving as an income source
  • Identify potential donors for their organisation.
  • Identify networking skills that can facilitate developing effective relationships with donors and individuals  
  • Report feeling more able to approach potential donors
  • Analyse and clarify their expectations in relation to approaching donors for support
  • Determine a potential donors expectations of supporting your organisation
  • To devise a research and development plan (shaping your ask) for approaching a potential donor

·         Apply their learning to ‘shaping the ask’: making it work for their organisation and projects

·         Prepare for the opening and ongoing conversation with a potential donor

There will be networking time:

A chance to make connections with other organisations.

How to book

To book a place on any of our courses, you need to book through our website. We accept bookings using the following payment methods:

• Online using debit/credit card or Paypal account

The quickest and easiest way to book places is to book and pay instantly online using the online booking system in the green box below. Select "Card/Paypal" for this option. Payment can be made by debit or credit card, or through your Paypal account if you have one. Your booking will then be confirmed immediately by email.

• Online followed by BACS or cheque payment

If you prefer to pay by BACS or cheque, you can provisionally reserve your place online by selecting "BACS / Cheque" on the payment screen. You then need to either make a BACS payment using the details in the reservation email we send you, or send us your cheque (with your booking reference number on the back). Once we've received your payment we will con-firm your place by email.
