Involve defends grant funding

Posted by Peter

The Chief Executive of Involve, Judy Robinson, has raised concern about the decline in grant funding with MPs.

She raised the problem of the loss of grant funding for many small VCS organisations, as the emphasis moves from funding to commissioned work. She explained how the majority of the sector is comprised of organisations that are small in size but do a huge amount of work, and warned that we risk losing this as some are running dry.

Judy said:

“Grants are critical. I worry about the attention given to the small number of larger organisations who can take on loans or arrange bonds and the lack of attention to the vast majority of the sector.
“I urge organisations not to listen to talk about scaling up or rolling out. Sometimes the best examples of civil society are organisations with local knowledge and local relationships.”
