Terms & Conditions

The SYFAB website is owned and run by South Yorkshire Funding Advice Bureau (SYFAB) which is part of South Yorkshire Community Foundation Ltd.

In order to use the services you must first agree to the terms and conditions and privacy policy. By using this website, our services and/or buying something from us you agree to be bound by our terms and conditions and privacy policy - if you do not agree with them you must not use the services.

These terms & conditions explain our conditions for you using the SYFAB website.

Our privacy policy forms part of the terms & conditions, so please read that too. These terms & conditions, the privacy policy and any other document we refer to in these terms make up the whole agreement between us.

What you can use the service for: You can use the website for the benefit of any community or voluntary organisation that you are involved with.

Registration: You have to register with us and be signed in to use some features of the website. If you are under 18, don't register unless you have permission from your legal guardian (usually a parent) to do so. You may share your login details with other members of your organisation if you wish, but be aware that anyone using your login will be able to view, amend or delete any information you have entered in your personal profile. If you are the main contact for your organisation, your login also gives access to your organisation’s profile.

SYFAB is not liable for any loss or damage caused if you choose to share your login details.

You may not share your login details with anyone outside your organisation.

Personal data: Please read our privacy policy to find out how we protect your personal data.

Payment security: When we take a payment from you, we use a secure third party service to process the payment and do not keep a record of your credit or debit card details in our systems.

Cancellation and your right to a refund: If you buy a subscription to use our website, you can contact us and cancel within fourteen days commencing on the day following receipt of our confirmation email and we will give you a full refund as long as you have not used the service. If you have used the service to search for funders, download resources, or receive an email from our mailing list, we cannot offer a refund. Nor do we provide refunds if you cancel a subscription after the 14 day period.

If you book and pay for a training place on one of our courses, different cancellation terms apply. Please read our training terms and conditions.

Change of subscription status: Subscriptions to use our website are renewable annually. If the status of your organisation changes during the subscription year, the following terms apply:

Entitlement change from a free subscription to a paid one: access to the website will be restricted until payment is received. Once payment is received, a new one year subscription period will start.

Entitlement change from a paid subscription to a free one: access to the website will continue unrestricted. No refund will be made for any unexpired portion of the original subscription period.

Intellectual property rights (including copyright) in the information and services we provide: You may share SYFAB Funding News emails, SYFAB Funding Search records, and SYFAB KnowHow resources created by us with colleagues in your own organisation or with other community or voluntary organisations you are a member of. Any content shared in this way must be conveyed intact in its original format showing clearly that it originates from SYFAB, and must be shared free of charge.

You can’t use our content to create your own work without our permission.

This does not apply to third-party content which we may link to. If you want to share or reproduce content from a third-party provider (for example, a funder’s website or a third-party resource linked to from our KnowHow section) you must seek permission from the owner of that content.

Changes to the website or records: We reserve the right to make changes to the website, including the records and services we offer, without notice.

Offering a decent service: We always try to make sure the website is fast, accurate and performs well: however, we can't promise that it will always work as expected. If the website does break, we won't be liable for any losses you might suffer.

Accuracy of records and other information provided: We do our best to make sure the information we provide is correct and up to date. However we don't make any promises about the accuracy or completeness of the records or any other information on the website. We just give you access to it. We are not responsible for any content on anyone else's website, even if we link to it.

Customer support and complaints: Please tell us if you have any problems using the site or if you notice any errors in the content we provide.

When we might stop you using the website: If you do anything which you are not allowed to do under these terms & conditions, or we cannot take a payment for a subscription when it is due, we reserve the right to stop you using the website. In all these cases you will have no right to a refund.

Liability: The only warranties or promises we give are set out in this document. We can't accept liability for any indirect or consequential losses, loss of data or any use of content you suffer from using the website, although we never limit liability for personal injury or death caused by our negligence or fraud. For any other loss you suffer that is caused by us, we limit the liability we have to you to the total money you spent on the website in the 12 calendar months before you make a claim against us. Your statutory rights are not affected.

Assignment: These terms & conditions and privacy policy are personal to you, and you are not allowed to transfer your rights under this agreement to anyone else.

Severance: The law is constantly changing, so if any part of these terms & conditions or privacy policy no longer applies or is no longer legally enforceable, then that part will be severed from the rest of the agreement: the rest will continue to apply.

The law: These terms & conditions are made under English law, and any arguments about them will only be heard in English courts.

Changes to this agreement: Any changes we make to our rights under this agreement will be made in writing.

Contact us: If you have any questions that aren’t covered here, please contact us.
